Epithelial skirt and bulge of human facial vellus hair follicles and associated Merkel-cell nerve complex. Arch Dermatol Res 1993;285:269277.
Message
Free nerve endings could be demonstrated in the fibrous capsule that surrounds the mantle.
The mantle plays a role in sensation.
Critique
The adventitial dermis of adnexal epithelial structures is innervated, as well as vascularized. The mantle is a normal adnexal structure that has nothing to do with sensation.
