While this manuscript was in press, an article (Lohmann CM et al. Sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients with diagnostically controversial spitzoid melanocytic tumors. Am J Surg Pathol 2002;26(1):47–55) appeared which told of a melanoma, 6.5 mm in thickness, on the ear of a 7-year-old boy that metastasized to lymph nodes.
