This stereotypical example of proliferating tricholemmal cystic carcinoma, thought erroneously in times past to be a proliferating tricholemmal cyst, a proliferating follicular cystic benign neoplasm, or a proliferating tricholemmal cystic squamous-cell carcinoma, exhibits features that simulate closely those at the isthmus of a normal follicle or a follicle well advanced in catagen. The cytopathologic attributes, to wit, large pleomorphic nuclei, are consonant with the carcinoma that it is.
