Hurt, M.D. for his instructive comments in a review of the book, Neoplasms with Follicular Differentiation, 2nd edition, which he did for the American Journal of Dermatopathology (volume 24, pp. 169–79, 2002), particularly has compelling remarks in regard to the neoplasm under discussion here "differentiating toward the isthmus of a follicle in advanced catagen or a follicle advanced in catagen."
