Introduction

One of the strengths of "Lever's" textbook of dermatopathology over the course of seven editions when it was written entirely by Walter Lever was the incredible inclusiveness of the references (it seemed that Lever had radar for identifying every article that ever had been written about a particular subject in any language) and the ecumenism of points of view (it was refreshing to encounter ideas in conflict provided by Lever). That inclusiveness, so important to a work that would be scientific and academic appears to be showing signs of atrophy, if only incipient, in the last two editions of it. In order to revivify that dimension so important to the worth of Lever's, I offer some ideas of a single author, with appropriate references, for consideration for inclusion in the 10th edition of "Lever's."
