Methods
Twenty-seven biopsy specimens taken from lesions of inflammatory types of alopecias were enrolled in this study. Sections showing late stages devoid of follicles were selected and studied for connective tissue changes in the papillary dermis, the adventitial dermis, and the reticular dermis. Only those cases were included in which a specific diagnosis had been established based on findings in sections picturing earlier changes of the very same process.
