Introduction
Regression in malignant melanoma has been studied from different perspectives but its mechanisms as well as its prognostic significance are not well clarified. This article reviews studies on regression of melanoma in order to compare and contrast definitions of regression, criteria for recognition of it, hypotheses about pathophysiology, and prognostic implications.
