Q: I am a new visitor to the site. How do I gain access?
A: All memberships are created in
Membership
Services. If you have a keycode, it can be redeemed for a
free trial membership.
Q: I've forgotten my password. Can Derm101.com
remind me?
A: Yes. If you were denied access due to an incorrect password,
we provide a link which you can click to have a password reminder
email sent to you.
Also, you can email us at
customerservice@derm101.com or call us at
212-448-0083 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST).
Q: What will happen if I give someone my username and password?
A: The Terms of Use of Derm101.com
forbid sharing of usernames and
passwords. If you violate this policy, you risk session termination when
someone else logs in concurrently with your username and password.
Q: Do I have to have cookies enabled? How do I do that?
A: Yes. Derm101.com uses cookies to
manage user sessions and control
access. No personal information is collected through the cookies, and
they can only be accessed by Derm101.com.
To enable cookies in Internet Explorer:
-Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Inside of
Internet Options, go to the Security tab and set your security on
"Medium" or lower. Only "High" security will not accept cookies.
To enable cookies in Netscape Navigator:
-Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Inside of Preferences, go
the Advanced link and set to "Accept all cookies."
Q: Why am I getting the "Session Timeout" message?
A:You will get a Session Timeout message for three reasons:
1. You do not have cookies enabled. See previous FAQ to enable
cookies.
2. Derm101.com automatically times out sessions after 3 hours for
security reasons. Return to the log in page and log in again.
3. Someone has used your username and password to log in on another
computer. Derm101.com does not allow concurrent sessions on the same
member account; the first person logged in will have their session
terminated when the second person logs in. Therefore, DO NOT SHARE YOUR
USERNAME AND PASSWORD.
Additional remedies:
-If you log in again and still receive the Session Timeout message,
hit the refresh or reload button on your browser (if on a Macintosh, hold
down the shift key at the same time).
-If refreshing doesn't work, clear your cache:
On Internet Explorer:
-Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click the button Delete
Files. This will merely delete the temporary files Internet Explorer has
cached for speed (i.e., the "Session Timeout" message)--it does not
eliminate any permanent files from your computer.
-Go back to your main screen, reload http://www.Derm101.com
and log in again. You should not get the Session Timeout screen.
On Netscape Navigator:
-Go to Edit menu and select Preferences. Find "Cache" in Advanced. Click
"Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache."
-Go back to your main screen, reload http://www.Derm101.com and log in
again. You should not get the Session Timeout screen.
Q: Why can't I view the video clips?
A: You probably don't have a video card, either in your computer or your
monitor. You will also need to download the
Flash 7.0 player
in order to view the videos.
Q: Why is the site slow?
A: The speed of downloading content from the Internet depends on many
variables, most important of which is the bandwidth of your access to the
Internet (e.g., it will be significantly slower via a dial-up modem than via a
DSL connection). Your computer's processor speed is also a very important
determinant of download time. Finally, there can be variations in
download times because of general Internet traffic as well.
Q: Can I print information from the site? How do I do it?
A: Users may print text, tables, and figures from Derm101.com for
their personal use only. To print a section of a chapter, click on
"Printable View." You will then be able to print that section of the
chapter, with tables and figures at full size and in line with the text.
