We endeavored to cast a net over the gamut of proliferations that contain elements sebaceous, to define them precisely and lucidly, to establish criteria for identifying each of them, and to make them comprehensible and diagnosable to histopathologists. To accomplish that goal, we set out to do the following: 1. Put every lesion under discussion in perspective historical. 2. Consider all proliferation of sebaceous cells from the vantage of their proliferation rather than their origin. 3. Include only those conditions in which elements sebaceous were either dominant or prominent. 4. Utilize diagnosis by pattern analysis with emphasis on silhouette.
